10:18 am [alias_sqbr]	Colour print run: how crazy am I? So I've decided to look into printing a small run of the first chapter of my webcomic A Circle of Stars (mainly for friends, since it's not professionally finished enough that I'd feel comfortable selling it to random strangers). The problem is that it's very much a colour comic and 24 pages long, which means crazy expensive. So, any suggestions of comparatively cheap ways of printing it? The best I've been able to find with some googling is We Print It, at $14.25 each for 20 and Quick Colour Print with $10 each for 50. But most places were just really vague about their pricing (I can't be bothered asking them all for quotes right now) Current Mood: hopeful (4 Comments |Comment on this)

12:04 pm [greyreviews]	Batman at PICA! Well, maybe not Batman himself, but Shane McCarthy author of some Batman comics and winner of the Sci-Fi London Award for Best Graphic Novel of 2006. This Sunday, 11 Nov from 3pm in the PICA Bar. Shane McCarthy will be appearing with reviewer and Mudroch University Librarian Grant Stone to discuss comics. Heres the blurb: Comic books, with their iconic heroes and dastardly villains, may sometimes be disregarded as a juvenile medium. In conversation with Grant Stone, Australian comic book author Shane McCarthy will illuminate the creative and complex world of comic literature and the graphic novel, and explore the cultural significance of a body of literature that ultimately concerns itself with the human experience.
